At first easily concealed, the abnormal appendages reached full size within months. Initially alarmed, Warren soon grew to relish the freedom of flight. Still, he strapped the wings tightly to his back to avoid suspicion. Warren was forced into action when fire struck his dormitory. Donning a blond wig and long nightshirt to conceal his identity, he delivered the students inside from certain death -- appearing as an angel to eyewitnesses.

Next-X History: After the disbanding of the X-men Angel and Psylocke were married in a private ceremony at Angel's New Mexico estate. They actually had less time to spend with each other than when they had been teammates as Angel focused much of his time on the day to day operations of Worthington Enterprises and after the death of her brother Brian, Psylocke found herself CEO of the Braddock holdings. So it came as something of a surprise when Psylocke discovered she was pregnant. After their son, Warren (the 4th) was born Angel once again delegated some of his responsibilities to his Board of directors so he could spend time with his wife. On a family vacation to the Grand Canyon in honor of his son's twelfth birthday Psylocke disappeared. Angel turned inward shutting out everyone around him including his son Warren. The younger Warren's suicide attempt pulled him out of his depression and he and his son enjoyed a very close relationship for the rest of his unfortunately short life. He was infected with a hybrid strain of Techo-Legacy virus that would prove fatal due to his unstable genetic structure. And it is his funeral that is the backdrop for Neo-X #1.
