Personality: Reese was quiet and reserved,
almost secretive. He played his cards close to his chest and did
not reveal much about himself to even his closest friends.
Personal Interests: Reese was an avid
student of magic and worked hard to develop his own magical abilities.
He was an enthusiastic participant in the Hellions training programme,
seeing it as an opportunity to develop his mutant gifts.
History: Reese
Kahn was born in New Salem, a town founded and occupied by practitioners
of mysticism and magic. New Salem had once been located in Colorado
until the resident witches and warlocks began to fear for there
lives, pooled their magicks to transport the entire town into its
own pocket dimension. Reese, the son of Jonathan and Zhoe Kahn was
the first child born in the pocket dimension. Shortly before Reese’s
sixteenth birthday his mutant talent of empathy started to emerge,
and his mother - a very powerful witch in her own right - tried
to help him control his newly forming powers. However, Reese’s
affinity with magicks seemed to hamper his mutant abilities, so
his parents decided to send him to earth, where his mutant powers
would develop naturally and his magical connection with New Salem
would be lessened. At this point they were contacted by Krystil
Frost and at her suggestion agreed to enrol Reese in the Massachusetts
Academy and the Hellions, hoping they would be able to help him
to find a balance between his mutant and magical powers.
Reese served with the Hellions for several months, but eventually
returned to New Salem when his mother’s megalomaniacal scheme
to conquer the earth became known. Reese sided with the Hellions
against her, and although he had no doubts that he had made the
right decision, Reese felt guilty over turning against her. When
it was time for the Hellions to return to earth, Reese announced
he was going to remain in New Salem, to watch over his comatose
Mother and to help repair the damage she had done to his home.
Some months later, Conjur’s enemy, the vampire Ian Rutherford,
attacked the Hellions with a reformed Salem’s Seven. Rutherford
blamed Conjur for the death of his sister, and knew that Reese was
attracted to one of the Hellions. By attacking them, Rutherford
thought he could bait Conjur into leaving New Salem (where his magical
abilities were at their height) and returning to earth, where he
believed he could be defeated. Reese had continued to observe his
former team mates through mystical means, particularly Damien Morgan,
aka Touch, towards whom he was attracted. When Morgan’s life
was threatened, Reese intervened. He killed Rutherford but was mortally
wounded in the battle. Knowing that his former team mates could
not survive a battle with the surviving members of the Seven, Reese
Kahn held them back with his last reserves of power, buying Teryn
time to bring the building down on top of them.
Reese Kahn was apparently killed along with the Seven, but it seemed
that his spirit was able to remain, tied to the earthly plane by
his magical power and by the strength of his attachment to Morgan.
As the Demonic Horde began to prepare to invade the Earth, the barriers
between dimensions began to weaken, and Reese realised that it might
be possible for him to return. He knew that his physical body had
been destroyed, and planned to take over another.
Reese’ precognitive abilities alerted him to the fact that
the British heroine Spitfire would be killed by the Horde’s
first attack. Reese began to plan. He knew that he could possess
the body of a recently killed person, and that Spitfire’s
mutant regenerative abilities made her a more suitable subject than
anyone else. Reese began to make contact with Spitfire, a disembodied
unexplained voice who assisted and irritated her in equal measure!
When Spitfire was killed, Conjur prevented her spirit from leaving
the Earth and then possessed and repaired her body.
Conjur transported himself to New York and Damien Morgan, finding
his friend imprisoned and suffering from Zen addiction. Conjur freed
Morgan and purged the drug from his system. The two finally confessed
their feelings for each other and they planned to make their escape
from the Hellfire Brownstone together. However, Reese began to feel
guilty over his treatment of Spitfire and he ultimately restored
her spirit to her body, leaving a letter for the sleeping Morgan.
He then appeared in London, saving the lives of Spitfire’s
friends before finally departing the earth.
