Personality: The Black King is a shrewd and calculating businessman. He prefers to plan his every mood meticulously, eliminating any possibility of error before he makes his move. However, like his father before him he has an explosive temper. DaCosta can be vindictive and cruel, measuring his success by how much he owns. He considers himself a ladies man and can be vain.
Personal Interests: Roberto enjoys working out in his private gym. He as a passion for late 20th century puzzles. Even though Roberto would never admit it to anyone he loves trying on and buying clothes.
History: Roberto DaCosta Jr. followed in his father’s footsteps by becoming Black King of the Hellfire Club. Roberto Sr. left everything he owned to his two children when he and Allison decided to retire and move to Asgard. The Black King quickly rose in power and influence, but found his ambitious schemes were repeatedly thwarted by the influence of the Club’s White King, William Marushi. DaCosta spent the next few years attempting to undermine Marushi while building up his own influence within the Inner Circle. Among his schemes to build his power and influence were beginning a relationship with the White Queen, and bringing his sister Teryn into the Hellfire Club to lead the newly formed Hellions team. DaCosta even planned to have Marushi killed by his son Marcus. The White King was finally murdered, but by the Hellion Touch, not through DaCosta’s schemes. The Black King reorganised the Inner Circle after Marushi’s death, with himself as the sole King and ruler of the Inner Circle. Shortly after this, his fiancée the White Queen was manipulated by Synn into sleeping with the White Bishop, Armond DeFaux. DaCosta, apparently unhinged by the news, murdered DeFaux, but he did not call off the wedding. The White Queen was unaware that DaCosta was aware of the affair.The Wedding took place during the demonic invasion of Earth led by the Horde. DaCosta protected the Hellions brownstone and its occupants from the attacking demons, and then extorted money, property and privilege from the wedding guests in payment for their safety. He then revealed that he had known about the White Queen’s affair and threw her out of the mansion, to the waiting demons.DaCosta then contacted the President of the United States, Sam Wilson, and promised to use a secret army of Sentinels that the Hellfire Club had control over, to assist in fighting the Horde, but only if Wilson stepped down and made him President of the United States! Unfortunately for DaCosta, the Horde were defeated by a collection of earth’s superhuman defenders including, ironically, the White Queen and the Hellions. His plans foiled and his wife still living, how DaCosta will react remains to be seen.
