Strength Level: Shay possesses the normal strength
of a human her age who engages in intense regular exercise.
Known Superhuman Powers:Although she appears
to be around the age of 25, Shayla is actually centuries old. Her
mutations have granted her a unique form of immortality. Although
she is susceptible to death by fatal diseases and detrimental wounds,
she does not age and therefore she can never fall to her death from
old age. Needless to say, having survived centuries of plague and
war, she is very fortunate to have lived such an immensely long life.
Shayla looks very much like a gargoyle in an X-uniform, with wings
that grant her the ability to fly, and a clubbed tail that she has
used more then once to knock a few heads in. Shay's primary mutation
has granted her the ability to heal any living being around her. Through
physical contact with a wounded or infirm individual's body, she is
able to mend any flesh wound, heal any cold or infection and rid one
body of any given virus. What and who she chooses to heal, however,
has to be chosen carefully, however, because, as said, she is susceptible
to any contagious ailment she comes into contact with. Over the centuries,
Shay has saved countless lives with her gift, including that of her
lover Dante’s. Her healing power is dispensed through her hands
in a radiant, almost blinding neon-green glow. The catch? She can
not, in any way, heal herself outside of her own average immune system.
Abilities/Special Skills: Shay's survival skills
are developed to an incredible extent. After centuries of life, she
has picked up a wealth of knowledge on how to survive just about any
situation, even some of the most extreme. Shalya Ki is also a martial
artists to the finest degree. Literally an almost impenetrable hand-to-hand
combat fighter, Shay's knowledge in both the art of fighting in itself
and of the weaknesses of the human body, paired with her own physical
aptitude, make her a deadly force. Her mixed wealth of knowledge in
survival, world history and the art of war make her a vital part of
her team, Nexus. Shayla also has a bit of a green thumb in her innate
skill for gardening, and a firm grasp on Zen and Buddhism, all of
which are of interest to her. Shay is also the only person she knows
who is capable of writing fluently in Chinese.
Weapons Used: Shay's claw tipped hands and heavily
clubbed tail are her primarily and, needless to say, most available
weaponry that she is seen putting to use. She is capable with most
weapons, and can utilize them with a keen skill and confidence. Swords,
knives, bo staffs, and throwing stars are her specialty. She prefers
not to use guns, for the most part, but if push comes to shove and
a gun is the only weapon available to get the job done, she'll put
it to use. |

Personality:
If one were to describe Shayla Ki in one word,
that one word would more then likely be 'Confident.' Everything about
Shay is confident - her actions, her self image, her choice in words,
even her style of dress is confident. After having survived such a
long life thus far, having suffered enough loss, embarrassment, self-inflicted
mistakes and other minor atrocities, and learned from them all, Shay
has managed to get past the inadequacies of life and in herself and
simply ignore them. She's bent now on simply living life to enjoy
it, as she never knows just how much time she has left to live it.
She's even confident in the fact that eventually her life longevity
and luck will eventually run out.
Shay is lively, outgoing and fearlessly social. She has little inhibitions
about speaking her mind, and is glad to try to remedy an annoying
situation just as quickly as she would an injured person. She is also
compassionate and caring, and a devout friend and lover.
Personal Interests: Although Shay does not consider
herself part of any one 'religion,' she does consider herself a very
spiritual person. Everything she does and says has a meaning to her
and everything around her holds a certain significance. Shay believe
that there is a god, and is the first to admit to the belief, although
any of her beliefs beyond that one set link of faith are kept to herself,
and are rarely shared with anyone, even her own teammates.
Shay's quests for knowledge and wealth of the like are a great interest
to her. She studies primarily Zen, Buddhism, and world cultures. She
actively participates in Yoga classes. Shay also loves gardening -
she designed and built the small Zen garden on the property of the
Xavier School for Higher Learning and attends to it, regularly, often
with the help of her teammate, AnneX.
