Personality: Confident and direct, Nick has always been good at whatever he set his mind to. Naturally academic, he has found his way into University without a great deal of effort. Attracted to Carrie Conway (Spitfire), Nick for the first time in his life was unsure of himself, and has decided not to tell her of his feelings as he believes that her powers put her out of his league.
Personal Interests: Nick is a good amateur photographer. He also reads widely, and plays football.
History: Little has been revealed of Nick Smith’s life before he attended Braddock University. It is known that he met Carrie Conway (Spitfire), Gary McGuiness and Kate Bixby during the first few lectures in English Literature, and that they later moved in together in a run down student house not far from the campus. Nick has had feelings for Carrie, but didn’t tell her. When she developed her powers, Nick decided not to tell her, believing that her new life put her out of his league.
Along with Spitfire’s other friends and family, Nick became a target of the Hellfire Club, who had threatened to kill him if Spitfire did not work for them. Nick survived a Hellfire Club attack which destroyed his house and put Gary McGuiness in a coma. He then joined Spitfire and her other friends in searching for a cure to Gary’s condition. The search was unsuccessful, but during this time he met the amateur sorceress Elise Keele, and the two have formed a close friendship. During the demonic invasion of Earth led by the Horde Nick helped fight off demons attacking Gary’s hospital ward.
Gary was restored to full health by the Hellion Conjur, and Kate, Nick and Gary are currently living in the penthouse apartment owned by Spitfire.
